Philadelphia, PA – On August 16, 2025, representatives of the Center of Strategic Initiatives and Assistance (CSIA) joined the Ukrainian community in Philadelphia for a vibrant celebration of Ukraine’s Independence Day which was organized by the Northeast Community Center.
The event brought together Ukrainian artists, veterans, community leaders, and American supporters in a powerful display of cultural pride and solidarity amid Ukraine’s ongoing struggle for freedom.
The celebration featured an inspiring speech by guest of honor Pastor Mark Burns, who delivered a compelling address emphasizing unwavering support for Ukraine. Burns shared his vision for ending the war, stressing that “Ukraine must belong solely to Ukrainians.” His words deeply resonated with attendees, reinforcing the strong bonds between the Ukrainian diaspora and American allies.
Among the notable speakers were Ukrainian defenders, including Serhiy Pozniak, head of the Veterans Entrepreneurs Union, Yurii Gordiienko, a volunteer and Hero of Ukraine, and Marina Kats, whose law firm was recognized as Pennsylvania’s top legal company.
Their contributions highlighted the resilience and determination of the Ukrainian people.
The event was elevated by performances from renowned Ukrainian artists, including Mika Mewton, the band Tsvit Kulbaby, Valeria Vovk, Oleksandra Kvarta, the band Voda, and students from St. Luke’s Children’s Academy. Their performances filled the atmosphere with joy and cultural pride, earning enthusiastic applause from the crowd.
The Ukrainian community warmly welcomed the messages of support and commitments to continued advocacy from distinguished American guests.
The celebration, hosted by the Northeast Community Center, underscored Philadelphia’s deep ties to Ukraine, reflecting the city’s role as a cradle of freedom and a steadfast supporter of Ukraine’s fight for sovereignty.
